Each job is estimated individually to reflect the amount of detail,
size, accessibility of the site, research needed, condition of
the surface as well as materials and time required.
If you would like to set a budget, the design will be tailor-made to suit
you. Together, we will decide what is best for you during your free, no obligation
consultation.
Commissioning your project.
The initial consultation is free. This may be done in person,
or via email, phone or ‘snail mail’. We will spend
time discussing your requirements and getting a feel for your particular
style and needs. We can draw initial rough sketches to help you
visualise your idea.
Once we have a ‘meeting of the minds’, the research will begin.
At this stage a fee of £60 will be charged to research your project and
produce sketches for your edit and/or approval. This fee is non-refundable
but will be credited to any project contracted and completed for £600
or more.
Full colour A3 mock-ups may also be provided for an additional fee but I find
that because murals are original and hand-painted, it is usual to deal with
colour in situ while the mural is in progress. We will naturally have discussed
the colour scheme in detail and swatches will be provided along with your sketches
if required. Once you approve the design, a formal quote will be prepared.
If you approve and are ready to begin, a deposit of 40% of the total cost of
the project is required to schedule your project.
This is when the fun part begins…the drawing and painting.
Your prepared* walls and floors will be protected with low-tack
masking materials and the transformation will begin.
In some circumstances it may be appropriate for your mural to be created off-site
as this will decrease the disruption within your environment. In this case,
the painting will be created in my studio on measured-to-size boards or canvas,
ready for installation.
Once a mural is complete the balance of the total cost of the project becomes
due. Off-site projects will be photographed and the image sent to you for approval.
If you are happy with your mural painting, the balance becomes due and the
finished product will be delivered with full instructions for installation.
If you prefer, we can arrange to travel and install for you.**

Preparing walls can be done at an additional
cost. The ideal surface for painting is papered walls with
one coat of vinyl matt emulsion. Vinyl wall papers are unsuitable
as they repel the paint so need to be removed and the wall
re-lined and painted with a coat of vinyl matt emulsion.
Plaster walls must be in reasonably good condition and sealed
with a primer coat of vinyl matt emulsion. |

Travel and labour costs may need to
be agreed for clients further afield. |
